EQUALITY

Our society is gradually becoming more tolerant and open minded about the differences that exist between us whatever our colour, race, religion, sexuality, gender or ability. There is still a long way to go before society is free from prejudice, but by challenging prejudice yourself when you hear or see it, you can help change people’s attitudes and make a difference.

People suffer discrimination in many different ways and for many different reasons. Three of these are covered by the law: race, sex and disability.

Access – If you need to know how accessible an organisation is before you visit them, it is best to contact them beforehand to discuss your needs. We have included websites where we can, which will usually access their e-mail contact details as well.

Languages – the multikulti website has information on debt, employment, health, housing, immigration and benefits in 10 community languages.
