EQUALITY

Our society is gradually becoming more tolerant and open minded about the differences that exist between us whatever our colour, race, religion, sexuality, gender or ability. There is still a long way to go before society is free from prejudice, but by challenging prejudice yourself when you hear or see it, you can help change people's attitudes and make a difference.

People suffer discrimination in many different ways and for many different reasons. However, there are laws to protect people against this, especially in employment matters or accessing services. The laws cover race, sex, age and disability discrimination.

Access - If you need to know how accessible an organisation is before you visit them, it is best to contact them beforehand to discuss your needs. We have included websites where we can, through which you can usually email them as well.

Languages - the multikulti website has information in 12 community languages. It covers employment, health, housing, immigration, debt, benefits, racism and discrimination.
